Fleet Readiness Programs

The Naval Station Newport Fleet Readiness division encompasses Morale, Welfare and Recreation, or MWR programs, Child & Youth Programs, as well as Food Service Galleys. MWR programs include fitness and sports, clubs & catering, movie theaters, libraries, golf courses, bowling centers, marinas and outdoor recreation, the single sailor/liberty program, information, tickets and travel, recreational lodging, special events and deployed forces support. By providing quality support services to active duty, reserve and retired personnel and their family members, these programs contribute to the retention, readiness, and mental, physical and emotional well being of our Sailors and their families.

What's Happening!
 
5th annual america's kids pentathlon


Friday, May 17 at the New Gym from 3 to 5:30 p.m.
Open to children of active duty personnel, retirees, reservists, and DoD employees.

Children (ages five through 12) may compete in one or all five events: running, basketball shoot out, obstacle course, throwing challenge and hula hoop challenge.

Refreshments will be provided.  Participant photo provided by Operation: Military Kids.  A free T-shirt for all children, while supplies last.  To register or for more information, log onto www.americaskidsrun.org.  For more information, call (401) 841-2883.

Pack your swim suit and stay after the pentathlon event for our 1st Annual Family Movie Night at the Pool!  Family movie night begins at 6 p.m. and costs $5 per person. Swim with your family while watching “Finding Nemo” broadcasted on the pool wall and
enjoy some refreshments afterwards.

    Information: The Ney Hall Galley provides breakfast, lunch and dinner Monday through Friday, weekends and holidays. Ney Hall serves all staff/student officers, officer candidates, staff/student enlisted personnel, reservists and DoD civilians on order that state to subsist from the mess. The galley also supports visiting ships returning from deployment and while on normal sea trials.
