Waterfront Fitness

CNIC's Waterfront Fitness Program supports the Navy's objectives of mission readiness and operational effectiveness by Bringing Fitness to the Fleet through our assistance in command PT and FEP development for afloat commands.  Other programs offered by Waterfront Fitness team members include pre-deployment education courses which provide fitness, health and nutrition programs to deck plate Sailors and providing resources and tools to assist afloat commands in improving overall Physical Readiness.

Bringing Fitness To The Fleet

Physical fitness of sailors is an essential and critical component of operational readiness and maintaining our fleet readiness. It is crucial that the continued importance of individual readiness be met. The Waterfront Fitness Team, Jodie M. Byrkett, Emily Dunlap and Shanda Binder, have been providing assistance for the deploying forces in the Mid-Atlantic Region since November 2006. Their program was created to “Bring Fitness to the Fleet” by providing health, fitness and nutrition to sailors at the deckplate including programs, resources and tools that assist the command in improving their Physical Readiness Program. The newest initiatives are the Group Exercise Instructor Courses that are designed to certify sailors in conducting Cycling, Step Training, Cardio Kickboxing and Circuit Training. Providing certified Navy Fitness Group Exercise Instructors give the sailors an additional resource for providing and participating in safe and effective PT while deployed.
